So, how to be normal? | Educational Publication

Creative Conscience Awards - Open Brief
|

Brief -
My brief is to create a publication that could educate the society about Tourette’s Syndrome (which is one of the hidden disabilities) by giving them a deeper understanding regards on this particular lesser known syndrome.

Problems -
The society has quite a total lack of understanding about what a hidden disability is. As for the majority, disabilites still mean being in a wheelchair or sick bed. Hence, people with hidden disabilities have always been seeing as "abnormal" just because of some certain weird actions they've made.

Objective -
As the brief mentioned above, we aim to educate the society about Tourette’s Syndrome in order to strengthen their understanding towards the daily struggles that Tourettes often faced, obstacles and experiences that they’ve been through and still going on in their life journey, meanwhile to diminish the stereotyping from society towards those with hidden disabilities. Beside, we would like to empower these groups to be more confident and always embrace themselves as well.

Inspirations -
Throughout years growing up with my younger brother who has Tourette’s since he was a kid, I’ve as well been through and seen all the misunderstanding and discriminations that the society has made towards him, he'll open up to me frequently about his feelings and thoughts in between, and that eventually has inspired me to create something that I should tell the society about what hidden disabilities is and what could they do to help empowering these groups instead of throwing tons of judgements towards them.

Concept & Idea -
"Uncover the hidden side"
The idea of the content will be presented as a first person point of view (as in my brother) and in all of the 12 chapters he will be talking about :
1. how his daily life would be as a Tourette's and the challenges that he faces oftenly
2. scenarios that he would usually be encountering and his level of anxiousness
3. some introductions about Tourette syndrome
4. how could the society do to empower them to overcome their disabilities
